Ascentn AgilePoint and Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007

Ascentn has been in close collaboration with Microsoft to introduce the release of the next generation of AgilePoint which will be compatible with the new Microsoft Office SharePoint Server (MOSS) 2007 and Windows SharePoint Services (WSSv3). The next generation AgilePoint will showcase an expanded integration with the new functionalities found in the MOSS 2007 and WSSv3 platform.

Microsoft Office Open XML (OOXML)

MOSS 2007 includes a content management platform, new forms service that allows for the creation of extended InfoPath and support for Office 2007. The Office 2007 suite will be greatly enhanced by the new Microsoft Office Open XML (OOXML) format. OOXML is a specification for a file format for the storage of electronic documentations such as memos, presentations and spreadsheets.

Workflow Templates

The enhanced AgilePoint-SharePoint 2007 suite will feature dedicated BPM workflow templates, new document and form libraries and an expanded usage of the people/group list function. A user will also be able to bind their BPM workflows to certain content types.

Key Performance Indicator (KPI) Web Parts

The AgilePoint-SharePoint 2007 integration will also leverage the new SharePoint Key Performance Indicator (KPI) Web Parts. This is a feature that introduces the concept of a BPM "traffic light". The KPI presents business data with graphical indicators (traffic light icons) of the current status of a key business process such as if customer satisfaction is exceeding, meeting, or failing to meet goals. For example, if customer satisfaction exceeds a preset goal, calculated by counting the percentage of positive satisfaction ratings across your organization, the customer satisfaction KPI is displayed with a green traffic light icon.

The Office Ribbon

The new AgilePoint suite will leverage the OOXML format to allow a user to create BPM workflows. Office 2007 will feature the new result-oriented user interface, known as "Ribbon". The new Ribbon user interface centers on helping people focus on what they want to do, rather than bothering with the details of how to do it. AgilePoint will be fully integrated into the Word and Excel Ribbon and leverage on the Ribbon's usability principle.
