Ascentn Announces Support for Microsoft® Office System 2007 and Exchange Server 2007

Enhanced Product Suite Empowers Business Process Management Users

MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA (January 23, 2007) - Ascentn Corporation, a provider of business process management system (BPMS) for Global 2000 companies announced the availability of AgilePoint® 4.0. AgilePoint is a best-in-class BPMS solution with a visual service oriented architecture (SOA) and metadata driven dynamic framework that is tightly integrated with the Microsoft® 2007 Office system, Microsoft Office SharePoint® Server 2007 and Microsoft Exchange® Server 2007. AgilePoint makes it easy for users to participate in business processes directly from their desktop using familiar Microsoft Office software-including Word, Excel, Outlook, and Visio.

Built on Microsoft's .NET framework, AgilePoint 4.0 empowers business users to take ownership of process management and is aimed at bridging the IT-business divide. AgilePoint focuses on continuous improvement of business processes that enables the delivery and acceleration of business agility and management of dynamic business operations. The combination of AgilePoint along with Microsoft's technologies delivers the performance, features, and value customers need to successfully achieve a complete BPMS solution that spans the enterprise across all levels.

AgilePoint leverages the new Microsoft Office Open XML (OOXML) format, allowing users to create BPM workflows directly in Word and Excel AgilePoint will also feature functions such as the Business Data Catalog that is found in Office 2007 which enables a user to close a business process loop and connect to different back-office systems.

The enhanced AgilePoint Integration for Microsoft Office SharePoint Server (MOSS) 2007 features dedicated BPM workflow templates, new document and form libraries, and an expanded usage of the people/group list function.

The AgilePoint Integration for MOSS 2007 provides a new Key Performance Indicator (KPI) Web Part that provides the functionality needed for basic Business Activity Monitoring (BAM). The Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) can be configured to display green/yellow/red icons that depict whether the KPI is in an acceptable, warning, or severe warning state.

"Process agility and innovation are crucial elements for today's organizations. Business processes need to be well defined and tracked for internal and compliance purposes. However, in a real world scenario, there will always be unforeseen circumstances where not all business processes can be predicted in advance. In such situations, organizations need a BPMS that can adapt to these dynamic changes on the fly and provide business managers a tool to perform speedy business process re-routing. This high impact differentiating capability has not been addressed by the traditional code-generation based workflow or BPM tools. AgilePoint's framework makes this possible and has been used by many Global 2000 companies. AgilePoint enables our customers to become real-time, process-oriented enterprises," said Jesse Shiah, president and CEO, Ascentn Corporation.

"AgilePoint 4.0 will integrate with the 2007 Office System and Exchange Server 2007 to bring dynamic agility to the front office. Our customers come to us for state-of-the-art BPM solutions that help them reduce cost and mitigate risks by achieving efficiency and agility through optimization, automation and management of business work flows and policies. By working with Microsoft, we are excited by the opportunities to our business, and confident that AgilePoint 4.0 will provide users of the 2007 Microsoft Office system and Exchange Server 2007 with significant value and enhanced functionality to our mutual customers," said Michelle Peterson, director of business development for Ascentn.

"We are thrilled with the tremendous support and excitement we are seeing from our partners around the world in support of the business availability launch of the 2007 Office system, Exchange Server 2007 and Windows Vista," said Allison Watson, corporate vice president, World Wide Partner Group, Microsoft.
